4. Estimates and Quotations
All quotations provided by Mayfair Rebuilds are subject to the following conditions:
- Quotations are valid for a period of 7 days from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated in writing by the Company.
- Quotes are based on the information provided by the Customer at the time of enquiry and may be subject to revision upon physical inspection of the Vehicle and its engine.
- If additional work is identified during the rebuild process that may exceed the original estimate, the Company will seek written approval from the Customer before proceeding with any such additional work.
- Storage charges may apply if the Vehicle is not collected within 7 days of Completion notification. The current storage rate is £35 per day.
- The Company reserves the right to amend a quotation if the Customer provides incorrect or incomplete information about the Vehicle or its engine.
5. Pricing, Payment, and Delivery
All pricing and payment terms are structured to be transparent and fair:
- Accepted payment methods include bank transfer, debit card, and cash. Credit card payments may be accepted at the Company’s discretion and may be subject to a processing surcharge.
- All prices quoted include VAT at the prevailing rate unless otherwise stated in writing.
- Payment must be made in full before the Vehicle is released from the Company’s premises. No Vehicle will be released on credit terms.
- Delivery times provided are estimates only and may vary depending on parts availability, the complexity of the Work, and current workshop capacity. Time is not of the essence in relation to delivery dates.
- In the event of late payment, the Company reserves the right to charge interest at the rate of 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate, calculated on a daily basis from the due date until the date of actual payment.
6. Warranty
Mayfair Rebuilds provides a comprehensive warranty on all engine rebuilds as follows:
- All engine rebuilds carry a Up to 12 months warranty covering both parts and labour, commencing from the date of Completion.
- The warranty is non-transferable and applies exclusively to the original Customer and the original Vehicle.
- A mandatory 2,000-mile running-in check is included with every engine rebuild. The Customer is responsible for bringing the Vehicle back to the Company for this check within the prescribed mileage.
- Warranty exclusions include, but are not limited to: damage caused by overheating, misuse, negligence, racing, remapping, chipping, or any modification not approved by the Company in writing. Damage to ancillary components such as turbos, EGR valves, DPF filters, and sensors is also excluded unless these components were specifically replaced as part of the agreed Work.
- Warranty claims must be reported to the Company within the warranty period, and the Vehicle must be made available for inspection at the Company’s workshop.
- The Company’s obligation under the warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the defective components at its sole discretion. The Company shall not be liable for any consequential losses arising from a warranty claim.
7. Cancellation and Returns
The following cancellation and return terms apply to all services provided by Mayfair Rebuilds:
- Customers have a 14-day cancellation period from the date of contract formation, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
- A 20% restocking and handling fee applies to cancelled orders where work has commenced or parts have been sourced on behalf of the Customer. This fee covers the costs incurred by the Company up to the point of cancellation.
- Engines are supplied “bare” unless otherwise agreed in writing — the engine block and cylinder head are included, but ancillaries, ECU, peripherals, and bolt-on components are not included unless specifically listed in the quotation.
- If the Customer is unwilling or unable to swap ancillary components from the old engine to the replacement engine, a 20% handling fee will apply.
- Completed work is non-refundable unless the work is found to be defective, in which case the warranty provisions in Section 6 shall apply.
8. Vehicle Collection, Delivery, and Storage
Mayfair Rebuilds offers the following collection, delivery, and storage arrangements:
- Nationwide collection and delivery is available upon request. The Company will arrange door-to-door transport of the Vehicle to and from its workshop facility.
- A 7-day grace period applies after Completion for Vehicle collection. During this period, no storage charges will be levied.
- After the 7-day grace period, storage charges of £35 per day will apply. These charges will be invoiced weekly and must be paid in addition to the cost of the Work.
- Vehicles left uncollected for more than 90 days may be disposed of in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977. The Company will make reasonable efforts to contact the Customer before exercising this right, including written notice to the last known address and contact details.
- The Company accepts no responsibility for Vehicles left beyond the 90-day period if the Customer has failed to respond to collection requests.
9. Vehicle Condition on Arrival
All Vehicles are photographed and documented upon arrival at the Mayfair Rebuilds workshop to record their condition. This photographic documentation serves as an objective record of the Vehicle’s state when received by the Company, including any pre-existing damage, dents, scratches, or interior condition. Customers are strongly encouraged to remove all personal belongings from the Vehicle before delivery or collection. The Company shall not be held responsible for any personal items left in the Vehicle during the rebuild process.
10. Risk and Responsibility
The following provisions govern risk and responsibility during the engine rebuild process:
- Vehicles are held at the Customer’s own risk whilst on the Company’s premises. Whilst the Company takes all reasonable care, it shall not be liable for damage caused by circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to fire, flood, theft, or vandalism.
- The Company shall not be liable for any consequential losses arising from delays in Completion, including but not limited to hire vehicle costs, loss of earnings, inconvenience, or any other indirect or consequential damages.
- The Company’s total liability for any claim arising from or in connection with the Work shall not exceed the total value of the Work carried out, as stated in the original quotation.
- Ownership of any Goods supplied remains with the Company until full payment has been received. Risk in the Goods passes to the Customer upon delivery or collection of the Vehicle.
11. Force Majeure and Subcontracting
The Company shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control (Force Majeure). Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, supply chain disruptions, industrial action, and transport delays.
The Company reserves the right to subcontract certain aspects of the Work to approved third-party specialists where specialist expertise or equipment is required. In such cases, the Company maintains full oversight and quality control, and remains responsible to the Customer for the standard of all work performed.
12. Governing Law and Contact Information
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
